Montreal

So, This is another entry into the blog I guess! This one is a blast from the past though, not too long ago, this was from the Middle of January 2011. So, as a group, we all went to Montreal, and did a few things, we went to the Biodome, went inside a big church (that for some reason had escalators in it, WHAT IS THIS?!), as well we went to Mont Royal, Jean-Talon Market and a Holocauste Museum. While we were there, all of us were basically sleeping in the same room, in Elyannes house, in the middle of hmmm let me think, A FIELD! hahaha. It was so much fun! At the Biodome there was 4 different domes to see, the first one was tropicalish and basically Brasil, because there were so many animals that were the same, Capivaras included! haha, the second was sort of like Thompson like, with bobcats and rocky areas and a cooler climate. Then came the underwater/ costal like dome, which included tones of gulls, as well as an underground part where you could see ducks from underneithe, as well as a tone of fish like stergeon, and the last dome, was a artic one, with puffins and penguins! I have seen alot of things, but never a penguin, until that moment in time of course!

While there, Kelton managed to loose her phone one day, and could not find it, she was stressing alot because she was sure that she lost it in the feild, which is actually Elyannes property,  because the night before we had been out back playing with her dog in that very feild! SO, at night, me and her headed out to scan the feild. I got the idea to call her phone, and sure enough, we heard it loud and clear, IN THIS HUGE FIELD SOMEHOW, so we just followed the sound, and somehow her TANK of a phone had survived basically 24 hrs just laying there underneithe all of the snow!

After the Mount was when we headed back to Quebec city in our big rented van, But, this Montreal adventure did end there but that is definatly NOT where it all started!, where it started was the first weekend of January, where we decided to take our 48 hours off of the program.

48 HRS: So, the way that I, Peter, Vero, Elyanne, Kelton, and Jennifer got to Montreal during this time, was a ride there from Veros mommy! It was awesome that she was able to drive us all the way there! The first night there, Vero went to her home, and the rest of us headed to the Alternitive Youth Hostel to check in all our stuff and get ready to go out! At the youth hostel we met up with Mary and Matt, who were both in the Katimavik group staying in Levis, and we all got ready to go together! That night we ended up predrinking in a radom back ally branching off of Rue st. Cathrine, and then eventually in the Tim Hortons there. ILLEGALITY! haha, then we all headed off to the Unity Club, and had an awesome night dancing and drinking and all that good stuff haha. The next day we went shopping around at random places, and were shown by Elyanne one thrift store that they have a huge pile of clothes, that you just take off your shoes, jump in, and if you manage to find something in the huge pile of thriftiness you can take it home for just.. wait for it... 1 dollar! Then, at night, after eating dinner at a brewery, we tryed to find a karioke bar to sing at, seeing as the hockey game was on that night, the first one we walked into was just a sports bar for that night I guess, then we found a second one, it was really odd. You walk in and its all asianed out, and you swear you have entered a new land, then as you walk down the hallways, and see all the rooms with doors thay say things like "the ruby room" or "saffire paradise" You feel as if you have entered a brothel, but better yet, the only sound you hear, is the sound of asians, at their finest, belting out sweet tunes from Elton John and other classic music. So basically, the low down was that you had to rent a room and then you and your friends just sing there for how ever long you pay I guess. LAME, singstar much!? hahaha.

After wards we headed down somewhere near the Bell center, and the hockey game was just ending so there was a bunch of people getting BUCK in the streets! I am confused who won, because fans from both teams seemed a little pissed haha. Whatever! So we decided to try this rando bar that is upstairs in what looks like an apartment building, well turns out, the looks are right, guess it was an apartment! DEWWW hahaha, and they just turned it into a bar. What type of bar you ask, SOME HEAVY METAL ONE, So not our scene, I made the mistake of buying a beer first thing we walked in, from a heavly tattooed and peirced bartender, guess for me, that didnt mean anything. Anyways, we all ended up sharing that beer, so that we could skeedaddle before this metal show started and people started thrashing around. So we peaced out of there, and headed out to the streets, where some crazed man tried to rob us with.... a BANANA. Of course, me being me, I just yelled at him, what are you going to shoot us with, Potassium?! haha and we walked into an irish pub where there were live fiddlers and we had a fun time there! After that, we tried to find another bar, failed, and ended up at a hooka cafe! Fun times hahaa. After we were done there, we asked the guys that worked there how to get back to our hostel and if it was worth walking.. They informed us that it was super close according to them, 24 blocks is apparently close for montrealians, so we started walking where they told us to, but I guess we took the wrong way, so we ended up in the middle of BUTT FUCK NO WHERE. I stopped a security van and asked them where we were. They told us, that we werent even in montreal anymore and it was 2 hours back the way we came, I called him on it, and I was totally right, we were just ina suburb. Hey bud, that still means we are in MONTREAL FOO! anywho, eventually we all got in 2 very ethnic caribean taxis, and got back and passed out! haha.

The next day was just full of more discovery, a bunch of cafes and breweries and things like that. Most everyone went to veros house that afternoon, but I decided to stay with Matt and Mary in Montreal and go explore! So much fun. And that was basically it for our Montreal adventure. I think that city is way more cracked up to be something amazing, then lets ya down. But, I have been informed by all montrealians that its best when there is a festival going on or something like that, because the time that we went there it was pretty dead and nothing super special was going on. We will see in the future how it is I guess, since my plan before me heading off to Denmark was in place, was to move to montreal and Bartend and probably live with Elyanne in an apartment. I mean, the option is still open, so lets see for the future! Anywho, Thanks for reading and TTYL!
The Falls!

Mama, and Bonhomme!

Le Massala Restraunt.

Okay, so this is going to be my first blog entry, since no one can really keep track of me, I thought I would be a good idea to start blogging and let everyone know a little bit about my travels and where I am, and that you know, that i am still living and all that good stuff! So basically, now as I am living in an apartment in Quebec city, ever since my dismissal from the Katimavik program, I received a visitor one day, which as most of you know, was my mama! The main reason for her visiting me, was of course, to see me before I head off to Denmark to do the Au Pair program for possibly more than a year. The is between the time of the 18th-24th of Feburary 2011. The day my mother arrived, I headed to the airport super early to pick her up, and took public transit most of the way to the airport, and then I had to walk down a highway of icy DOOM for about 45 minutes to get to the actual airport. Guess the city doesnt want the bus to go all the way out there! So, on the way back to my apartment, we obviously used a different form of transportation, because there is no way that we were walking all that way with luggage just to catch the really unreliable bus! So, the first night that my mother was in town, we headed to a cool little Tunsanian restraunt, that is "aportez votre vin" and has really good food, just odd service! after that we took a little tour around the old city, but it was pretty cold, so we were saving that for another day. The rest of the days that my mother was here included these activities; a trip to the ice hotel, a hike out at the falls near where I used to live, shopping at Place de Laurier, a visit to the civilization museum, as well as a day long tour of Old Quebec city, which included of course, the Chateau Frontenac! As well as, lots of ethnic restraunts, a fondue night with my roommate, as well as lots of mother-son visiting time :) It was an awesome week and got me alot more ready for my future travels ahead of me. Anyways, at the moment I am at the airport, with my battery dying and no where to plug it in aparently, but where I am going and things that happened after my mom left will be left to mystery, until the next blog. Thanks for reading! Hope this kept you a little up to date at least, with whats been going on, and there are many future blogs that will be refering to the past so we can catch up on a few things that happened during the past year or so. Ttyl!
